NORTH HILTON HEAD. With exhibits and activities inside and out, the Coastal Discovery Museum is a fun family outing no matter the weather or the time of year. Learn all about the history and ecology of the area, or schedule a tour ­ there are many to choose from, including beach walks, dolphin cruises, plantation tours, and trolley tours. During the summer months, the Turtle Talk and Walk is probably the most popular offering.

This picturesque island is located across the Caliboque Bay from Hilton Head and is only accessible by boat. Steeped in history and still very much unspoiled, the Island was used as the setting in Pat Conroy's novel, "The Water is Wide." Visit the one-room Island Elementary School, the First Union Baptist Church, circa 1880 and the Mary Dunn Cemetery with gravestones dating back to the late 1790's. SHELTER COVE. Half-day outings to Daufuskie Island and dolphin cruises which can only be accessed by boat. Upon arrival, a golf cart is provided for getting around this picturesque, history-laden island that was used as the setting in Pat Conroy's novel, "The Water is Wide." SEA PINES RESORT. Looking for an adrenalin rush? Sign up for a parasailing adventure that'll lift you 400 feet above the island. For a calmer excursion, Enviro Tours provides a one-hour inflatable boat ride that exposes passengers to island wildlife. Ski lessons and Wave Runner rentals are also available.

Dolphin cruises are as popular with locals as well as tourist. Hop aboard one of catamarans and go in search of playful dolphins on a scenic two-hour adventure. The company's primary objective is to provide daily opportunities for everyone to watch the dolphins, all in comfort and safety and not affecting the waters or wildlife.
